Greek Wines

Negroamaro is the pride of Manolis Karavitakis and a personal bet that has been long since won. When everyone planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in Greece, Karavitakis planted Negroamaro and Sangiovese. Well, this man was and is, always a pioneer! His studies in Bologna left their mark, so Manolis Karavitakis loved Italian varieties almost as much as Cretan ones. He passed this love on to his son, Nikos, who has recently been at the helm of the winery and has been keeping experimenting with him.

Kompos is a rose version from Liatiko. For the ultimate expression of elegance, Nikos chose to let Liatiko speak on its own, with a very short maceration period and a three-month maturation with lees contact. The result has elegant color and impressive fruit purity, dressed with discreet floral notes and toffee touches! Just perfect!

Impressive, crystal clear, pink colour. Flirtations of strawberry and cherry. Harmony - Serving Temperature An excellent aperitif and an exquisite companion for pasta with salmon, scallops with sauce, pasta with shrimps or lobsters, a variety of cooked meats and why not a hearty pizza. Domaine Karanika, Amyndeon Xinomavro The aromas are of a wine with long ageing on its lees. Lovely bready, yeasty aromas with hints of smoke and truffles set against a clean background. The wine is bone dry, but incredibly supple. Its elegance defies gravity. You could stick this mature flavour bomb of citrus, nuts and honey into a grand Champagne tasting, and you would be hard pressed to know it wasn’t an extremely good example of Premier Cru from the Montagne de Reims. Such subtlety and elegance. It still tastes young and whilst it could be drunk with pleasure now, it will carry on ageing gracefully for a decade!

For the supreme expression of elegance, Nikos chose not to load Liatiko with many things but preferred to ferment it in oak barrels of 500 liters and then transfer it to stainless steel tanks where it matured for 6 months. The result has an impressive fruit purity, dressed with discreet sweet, spicy notes and botanical touches! Sublime!

From a single vineyard at an altitude of 850 meters in Sofiana, Corinth this great Assyrtiko. It ferments and matures in 500-liter French oak barrels for nine months.Mellow peaches,apricots, honey, orange peel,lemon and bergamot in the nose.The barrel is almost imperceptible, giving notes of vanilla and butter caramel. A gastronomical wine with intense personality to accompany pork-based dishes,duck,turkey, fish or mature cheeses.
